Love to Hear You Speak

Find Your Passion, Transform Your Career

My career began as a software engineer at a tech company, and later I went to work at Cambridge University in the UK. During the day I wrote code, and in the evenings I collaborated with scholars to write AI-related papers. I planned to improve my engineering capabilities, expand my AI knowledge and experience, with the goal of becoming an AI engineer at a well-known company.

At a camp meeting, I heard Coach Jacky Chen share how to find life's meaning and passion from four dimensions: love, strengths, income, and social needs, which made me seriously think for the first time: What career do I truly love?

After that, I joined the GROW growth study group led by him and Elder Lin Fengliang, and through continuous self-exploration, testing, and prayer, I discovered I was extremely interested in product management, which was also at the intersection of the four dimensions, so I actively prepared for interviews and ultimately made the job transition.

This experience is just like what Coach Jacky said in Issue 79's "Workplace Habits" series article "From Novice to Leader": "In the process, find what you love and what you're good at, clarify your strengths, value, and life's meaning. Work is no longer day after day of 'laying bricks,' but... a joyful journey of continuous growth." It also makes me look forward to the new calling God is leading me into. (Jamie, Wisconsin, USA)

Seeking Justice Through Gentle Actions

In Issue 79's "Neighbors" section, the article "Be a Good Neighbor" featured an interview with Kate Denson, National Director of Justice Programs at InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. She mentioned that during college she went to serve in a declining urban area in New Jersey. Due to air pollution caused by a power plant, many residents suffered from respiratory diseases. When encountering such situations, the usual response is to protest to the government or sue the power plant. However, several young Christians communicated with the power plant and negotiated for a piece of land, which they developed into a community vegetable garden. This process of pursuing justice deeply inspired Kate Denson.

As a resident of New Jersey, this article stirred the seed of justice within my heart. If we do not stand on the same footing with those we serve and lack empathy, the path of justice may be impossible to advance no matter how loudly we shout.

Is the justice that the world considers the same as the justice that Christians affirm? "When people have correct and appropriate relationships in these four dimensions—with God, with self, with others, and with things—that is complete peace. This is justice." Justice begins with a gentle and humble attitude, starts with actions of loving others as oneself, and proceeds through constant care. By finding peace in the example of Jesus' incarnation, we are in the place of justice. (Li Rouming, New Jersey, USA)

Let Life Be a Song of Praise

Not everyone can open their mouth and sing a melodious song. However, from reading *Kingdom of God*, I see that as long as one is willing to wholeheartedly love the Lord and determinedly follow Him, every life can become a song of praise.

In Issue 79's articles, the interview with Pastor Chuemay Li titled "Life is a Hymn of Praise" showed her "with a heart of reverence, constantly thinking of, worshiping, and serving God in joy." This is her hymn of praise. Full-time artist Mai Neng mentioned in "A Brush with Inspiration" that she wants to "enable viewers to see the four seasons of life and the scenery of years from different perspectives." The colors and images she uses have also become her song. Professor Timothy Wu in "The Revelation of God Through Nature and Scripture" guides readers to look up at God's creation and look down to read God's revelation. Through articles analyzing Scripture, challenging readers to see the invisible God—this is his song of worship. (Qinmu, Florida, USA)
