Refreshed in the Midst of the Digital Tide -- 2026 KRC Spring Retreat

KRC Coworkers

In mid-April, Pennsylvania welcomed the four-day, three-night KRC Retreat with unusually warm weather and a landscape filled with blooming spring flowers. Drawing from their knowledge, experience, and personal insights, six speakers from diverse fields encouraged and challenged more than forty members of the KRC family to: understand their identity and worth in Christ; pass on both tangible and intangible treasures; remain faithful in living out God's calling; and bless others through sincere and meaningful relationships.

Among them were several who have devoted their lives to cross-cultural gospel ministry—a Japanese missionary who once served in Taiwan; a Chinese pastor shepherding a Burmese church in the American Midwest; a seminary professor with experience in bi-vocational missions; and an English teacher who lives out the life of Christ among Muslim students. Together with other KRC members serving in fields such as law, business, media, technology, and music, their lives intersect to embody KRC's vision and mission: using resources for the Kingdom of God.

Rev. Claudio Huang from Nebraska delivered the Sunday message from the book of Ecclesiastes. In this rapidly changing and challenging digital age, our sense of identity and worth is constantly under pressure. It is precisely the “meaninglessness” of life “under the sun” that compels us to look to the God who has set eternity in the human heart. The vertical relationship between God and humanity both defines and shapes the horizontal relationships between people. When a person's life is aligned with God, he or she gains a sense of worth and purpose that is not easily shaken by external circumstances. Hearty meals with a taste of home, together with thought-provoking morning devotions, nourished participants in body, mind, and spirit. Alongside joyful conversations, several attendees also shared some of their deepest personal struggles. The atmosphere of safety fostered throughout the retreat allowed KRC family members to relax, be themselves, and find renewed strength.

The following are reflections from retreat participants:

”I felt the Holy Spirit strengthening me through every message. God answered all the prayers I had prayed in the past by calling me to KRC.“

"I saw God's marvelous work through the lives of people. The worship was so powerful that it refreshed and uplifted my spirit."

"Seeing brothers and sisters in Christ connected and serving side by side reminds me that the Holy Spirit is present among us."

"Discovering KRC felt like finding a hidden treasure. I can't wait to share it with my friends in other churches."

"I gained practical insights and came away with a fresh understanding and deeper appreciation of Scripture."

Become Part of This Family

Written by Sister Duoduo

I never imagined that I would meet so many missionaries at the KRC Retreat and have the opportunity to hear their inspiring stories.

I used to be a committed atheist. Whenever someone tried to share the gospel with me, I would immediately resist it. Later, however, I learned that missionaries brought not only the gospel to China, but also education, medical care, and compassionate service to society's most vulnerable people. That gave me a new understanding of what missions are really about.

During this retreat, I gained a deeper appreciation for missions through the testimonies of several missionaries. Because of the gospel, they responded in obedience to God's call and devoted their lives to sharing His love and salvation. More than a century ago, there were pioneers such as Robert Morrison and Gladys Aylward. Since then, the work of the gospel has been faithfully passed on from one generation to the next, with some handing off the baton and others taking it up. At this retreat, hearing today's missionaries share their stories firsthand filled me once again with praise and wonder at God's marvelous work. It is because of the faithfulness of missionaries like these that I came to accept Jesus as my Savior and Lord, and became part of God's family.

At the retreat, I was deeply moved by the dedication of KRC founder Lily Kao, whose service continues a legacy of faithful ministry passed down through generations of her family. I was also touched by each person I met—individuals with different personalities, gifts, and callings. Their lives inspired me deeply and made me even more grateful to have become part of this family.

Looking forward to our next gathering!
