Winged by God
The philosopher Kierkegaard told a story. There is a duck church. Every Sunday, ducks gather in groups, invite each other, and go to worship faithfully. Especially since the new duck priest has recently arrived, they are looking forward to it even more. After every Sunday service, the ducks go home together. On the way, they always like to talk about how the pastor’s sermons inspired them, how perfect God’s creation is, and gives them a pair of powerful wings to fly as high as they want. They have swimming feet and can go anywhere. Day after day, year after year, the ducks in Duck Church live a satisfying and happy church life.
Hearing this, you may want to laugh. Ducks can fly high with their wings? Traveled far?
This year is a year full of challenges for me. In my personal life, ministry, and work, I constantly faced difficult situations that required me to make extraordinary decisions. I also experienced the embarrassment of praying earnestly for a long time but failing to meet my expectations many times. At these times, the Holy Spirit often reminds me to focus on God's Being rather than what God is doing. I believe that God is love, so the encounters He allows must be out of love. Although I don’t know exactly, I can face difficulties and continue because I know that He loves me. And because I believe that God is the God of abundance and provision, I don’t worry about the future and only need to face daily difficulties; I believe that God is the omniscient God, and all my secrets, struggles, and truths are in His heart; I believe that God is the almighty God , He can overcome everything. Therefore, even if what we encounter is not what we expected, we can experience His transcendent peace and presence in our lives because we truly know God.
This year is coming to an end, and my deepest hope and prayer is that in our daily lives, let us not be content with being just ducks, only talking about God, but never flying high or traveling far because of God. Because we truly know this loving, abundant, omniscient, and almighty God, let us be able to bravely walk with Him, and let Him spread our wings in all kinds of situations.
In this issue, I would like to continue to introduce one of the soul figures in the KRC team—Dr. Yu Guoliang. Brother Guoliang is a physicist at NASA and a prolific writer. He has written and published countless books over the past decades and continues to write. His writings may be humorous or interesting, or he may tell truths, which always make people feel his passion for loving the Lord and his people. His Cantonese is often a source of joy to his co-workers. His other half, Sister Ai Yan, is gentle and graceful, and will always stand by his side to support him. For many years, Brother Guoliang has served as the planning editor of the outreach section of the "Kingdom of God" magazine, bringing us wonderful stories and reports on God's actions everywhere. Brother Guoliang, thank you!
