Rangrangmanjia’s double material editing and procurement camp

From December 7th to 11th, 2022, a long-awaited physical workshop-"Becoming a Chef of the Soul/I Will Write Your Story" double editing and editing camp will be held at the Pennsylvania Ambassador Training Center in the United States. The lecturer, Pastor Su Wen'an, specially combined the two courses of editing and interviewing into one workshop. In a lively, compact, practical and interactive way, during five days and four nights, all students not only gained knowledge about editing and interviewing ministries With a comprehensive understanding, I also understood the true meaning of "workers come before work, authors come before works, and sincerity is the most valuable" during editing, interviews, and field operations.

In Paradise Town in early winter, the temperature was already around freezing point in the morning and evening, but the new ideas of learning and the joy of gathering made the students feel energetic. Please scan the QR Code to watch the camp’s highlights video.

Students share their experiences

A camp for literati

◈Wang Shufei

After participating in the online writing camp in 2021, I compiled two speeches for the "Kingdom of God" magazine. After learning that the editing camp was being held in person, I prayed for many days and longed to receive equipment. I finally made up my mind to drive more than 500 miles alone to participate.

I admire Pastor Wen An's teachings so much. The inheritance of more than 30 years of experience in written media ministry, the rich teaching materials pay equal attention to biblical concepts and specific practical steps, concisely and concisely stimulating spiritual growth, and humorous and in-depth thinking challenges.

Every time during group discussions, assistant teacher Min Wen always pointed out the problem keenly, and I learned a lot from her precise conclusions. With the solid content and the pressure of on-site interviews on the last day, I can only go all out with what the teacher said, "Doing your best is better than being the best."

Behind the publication of a book or magazine is the countless wisdom and efforts invested by the team. Even one of these interviews requires careful thinking: Who is speaking? To whom? say what? How to say? After fully experiencing the on-site interview process arranged by the camp, when I started writing the article, I realized how difficult it is for the interviewer to serve as a bridge between the interviewee and the reader.

I am grateful for the lecture notes given by Pastor Wen An, which is the "Tao" of his artistic and literary approach and the "skill" that I have learned through hard work. Read it slowly after the camp and realize that the cultivation of story-telling ability is also the cultivation of the temperament and mentality of a person who is in line with God's will. I envy and admire the tacit understanding of the Kingdom of God literature ministry team. Their personal teachings in addition to words and teachings make people feel the fragrance. Thanks to the group of brothers and sisters who love the Lord whom I met at the camp, I will never be alone on the journey of writing in the future.

new chapter

◈Qian Wentao

Composition writing was a pain point for me when I was young and I often couldn’t write. Now I have participated in the KRC Editorial Interview Camp. How could I be like this if God hadn’t moved and changed me?

During the camp, God’s words led us to practice our inner strength as writers. From watching videos, studying courses, spiritual practice, and also started to practice external skills. From the film, I saw that sincerity and time are the secret sauce of writing; from the spiritual practice, I saw Mark's detailed and vivid recording of Jesus' teachings, which helped me learn to see the story from different perspectives and angles.

One of the highlights of the camp was the interview with Brother Su Wenzhe. We started from formulating questions, observing and recording during on-site interviews (three-pronged approach of recording, taking photos, and taking notes), to sorting out the manuscript while the iron was hot, and then writing the introduction and title. Brother Wenzhe’s testimony made me admire the wonder of the Lord, and I was deeply moved by Wenzhe’s mother’s love for her daughter-in-law.

I believe that God has prepared me to start a new chapter in my life, such as the camp’s golden words:“The Lord is willing to save me; therefore we will sing my songs with stringed instruments in the house of the Lord all the days of our lives.” (Isaiah 38:20)

Not only learning, but also practical courses

◈Shen Xue Shu

"Editor-in-Chief, when is the deadline for the article you just asked me to interview?"... "Yesterday!" At the beginning of class, I was shocked when I heard the teaching assistant share a situation she had encountered. Is this kamikaze training?

After taking the class, I realized that editing is a service that requires creative planning, careful observation, good questioning, and division of labor. It is not a job where one person closes the door and works hard without contact with others. Teacher Su shared his editing and editing experience with his many years of writing and publishing books. He also thanked Shin Hye and Min Wen for sharing their valuable experience in editing and interviewing.

In addition to listening to lectures, practice is a big drama. The four students in the group drafted interview questions from near to far, from shallow to deep; the interviews were recorded on site and converted into transcripts; paragraphs were assigned to each person for polishing and proofreading. Not only did they conduct the actual interview, but they also experienced teamwork, which was very valuable.

I have participated in the Kingdom of God literature camp many times in the past 20 years, and I have observed that the students still keep in touch, learn from each other, and encourage each other after the camp. Ask the Lord to give us the enthusiasm to continue writing, and to cook spiritual delicacies with sincerity and sweat, satisfying the audience and spreading the grace and goodness of the Lord!

Here I see...

◈Yang Jiahui

The five-day and four-night editing camp ended in a warm atmosphere. The students from different places were reluctant to leave. In just a few days, they got to know each other better. As Teacher Su Wen'an said: "Meet friends through literature: Find good partners who encourage each other in literature service."

In my life, writing is to cope with exams, and editing is the responsibility of the publishing house. I have never been exposed to writing or editing. Until I came to the editorial camp, God opened up a writing world I had never seen before...

Here, Teacher Su emphasizes that what editors must possess is to first establish a relationship with God. He used the Manchu-Hanban banquet menu prepared by the chef as a metaphor for the editor's planning and conception. The Korean drama "Dae Jang Geum" encourages students, "There is no secret recipe for cooking, sincerity and time are the secret ingredients. Only the sincerity and sweat in the rice and dishes can create a truly healthy and delicious diet." Careful editors can make readers happy. Body, mind and spirit all benefit.

Here, I had the opportunity to interview Gao Lili, the founder of Kingdom of God magazine. Her beauty is the light that radiates from the inside out, the fragrance of Christ; in every decision she makes, she will see Christ's love and hand holding her. Seeing the fat of God dripping down her path, I can only give praise to the Lord!

Here, I saw two young people from the Kingdom of God getting up early in the morning to make breakfast for the students: perfectly fried eggs, fragrant coffee, fried rice with creative use of ingredients... When students go to class with a full stomach, they also have to clean up after cooking. They were the first to arrive and the last to leave, with smiles on their faces and serving faithfully throughout the process. I see God Himself equipping the next generation to become elite soldiers of the Kingdom of God!

Here, God’s children learn to write stories about you and me and God for people who believe and don’t believe; they use creative and lively ways to record and spread God’s grace on you and me. As Teacher Su said, "There is God in my heart and there are people in my eyes." The pens of editors and interviewers will become beautiful channels to write true stories for the Lord, glorifying God and benefiting people!

The focus of writing work is not "words", but "people"

◈Chen Zhang Minna

Teacher Su said: "What is a goal? It is a dream with a deadline! It is difficult to achieve the goal if there is no deadline for writing work, and all ministry will be elusive." I feel the same way!

Editing is used in a wide range of applications, not just text, but also applicable to daily life and interpersonal communication. Teacher Xinhui said: "Editors will meet all kinds of talented people, and they connect with the editor through words. It is the editor's responsibility to encourage them to find their own way." Teacher Minwen said: "Our listening is to give people Blessings; edit manuscripts with grace.”

Realize the importance of "team" in the camp. I have always been used to working alone, but I am learning team spirit. This time, I had to coordinate the interview with four colleagues and jointly edit the interview transcript. I personally experienced the power of the team! Editors also need to manage personal relationships. Texts are written by "people" for "people" to read; the protagonist of writing work is not "words", but "people". This is something I never thought of. I like to serve by text, but I just want to avoid contact with people. This editorial interview camp brought me new ideas and new breakthroughs!

Paradise Learning Experience

◈Lin Lizhen

Paradise is the place I yearn for, and it is also a secret garden where I can rest quietly and regain my strength. This land is full of love and legend, and the KRC camp was held here. How could I not come?

This course was very compact, and I admired the instructor for his good intentions, and wished that the students could learn all the moves immediately.

I come from a multi-generational Christian family, and I deeply understand that the most important thing in life is to live out your faith and confidence and pass it on from generation to generation. I admire Teacher Su for being able to sort out the faith inheritance of Christian families, turn it into a doctoral thesis, and publish a book so that more families can be blessed.

Teacher Minwen’s Bible study was an eye-opener for me. In a short period of time, she assigned students to read different verses, and she spoke about Mark so vividly that it was as if he was among us. It also let me know: Mark, like us, is an ordinary person, but after meeting God, everything changed.

Teacher Xinhui is like the chief instructor urging her to go to class on time. She is strict in her control and yet gentle at the same time. I wonder how she does it? She seems to be versatile and can take care of many things. Is it an ability developed from editing a magazine, or is it training to edit a magazine?

I see from the students that everyone has a story. I hope to read their stories in the future and witness the truth, goodness and beauty that God has accomplished.
