The taste of rice cake sushi
It happened in February this year. That day, in order to find information, I spent several hours in a bookstore near my residence in Pennsylvania, USA. In the afternoon, I realized that I had not eaten since I got up in the morning. I randomly bought a piece of sushi in the supermarket. While I was eating, I got a call from KRC colleague Shin Hye. During the chat, Shinhye asked me if the sushi was delicious. how to say? As a notoriously picky person, I can still eat this kind of sushi with gusto. It seems that I am really hungry this time!
In addition to the freshness of raw fish, sushi is also very particular about the cooking method and seasoning of the rice. The rice in this sushi has been squeezed together by Chef Mo, making it taste like a ball of rice cake. Shin Hye blurted out: "Haha! So you are eating rice cake sushi." We burst into laughter! Suddenly I felt that this was really an unforgettable moment in my life! On a cold day, I browse group memberships freely, buy some sushi and a cup of tea when I feel hungry, and eat while chatting with Shin Hye on the phone in a comfortable coffee shop in the shopping mall, discussing the Islamic content in the next issue of Kingdom of God magazine In-depth reporting..., far and wide, I feel that the days are full of feelings. very nice!
There are many things to be grateful for…
The editorial team, led by Chief Editor Pastor Su Wen-an (Los Angeles) and Xin Hui (New Jersey) and Fei Ru (Taipei) who jointly took over the editorial duties, completed the 20th issue of the magazine. In addition to praying faithfully, I just enjoyed watching the buzz of emails flying across the ocean and across the state, and then this issue of the magazine took shape! Another miracle! This is our annual focus on cultures and ethnic groups outside the Chinese world. In the talent, outreach, community and other units, there are solid and in-depth analysis and reports on the Islamic (commonly known as Islam by the Chinese) world. We look forward to accompanying you with a universal mind and a heart for all people.
In early January, under almost impossible circumstances, KRC found a new home for the summer Penn Cultural Camp. Colleagues who went there for exploration all praised it and thought it was even more fascinating than the previous campsite! Once again we experience the faithfulness and wonder of God the Father. We sincerely invite you to share a rich and colorful life with us and discover and cultivate your precious gifts. (Please read the introduction to Penn Cultural Camp on pages 1 to 6)
After waiting for a long time, God finally prepared an English editor for us, Rev. Jay Zinn. He specially attended the KRC editorial meeting, retreat and class reunion held in Pennsylvania in March (see the report on pages 52-53 for details). Not only did he remember and call out the names of about 30 people before the meeting ended, but he also happily took away the Chinese name "Jin Jie" everyone gave him. The English unit of this issue is his welcome gift to readers.
My father's progress is also a great miracle. He suffered a severe stroke in November last year and is now able to feed himself 70% of the time and rely on a gastric tube to feed 30% of the time. My father not only remembered most of the brothers and sisters who came to visit him, but also remembered many personal details, which surprised us all. His prayers were touching and inspiring. Although my mother underwent surgery in March this year due to the discovery of a tumor, my parents were both unwell, and I had to go to Asia to work and serve. However, our loving Father God has been sending many “angels” to care and support, and my mother’s surgery and recovery went smoothly. Let our family still sail forward on the cusp of the storm.
Let’s go back to “rice cake sushi”. In life, whether it is family, ministry, work, etc., there are often times when we are over-squeezed and almost out of breath. However, I and every KRC team member can bear witness to this: as long as we have true love for God and truth If you are thirsty enough, life will still be very enjoyable!
