What is the good news of the kingdom?

My sister Meimei (pseudonym), whom I had always cared about, passed away after a five-year battle with lung cancer. Her Christian life made me think seriously about what the good news of the kingdom is. Sister Meimei has experienced many hardships during her 72 years in the world. She chose to persist in trusting the Lord and was a loyal, faithful, and loving person; but she was full of complaints and bitterness about her life. She misses her children all the time, but is not good at expressing love; what she talks about most often is: "None of your lives are as painful as mine!" Until the end, she and her children finally express their feelings for each other, accept each other, and forgive each other. .

Sister Meimei’s faith did not allow her to realize unconditional love and abundant grace—she was obviously smart and diligent, but she always liked to say that she was stupid and useless; she would rather fight on her own than accept the love that God gave her through the people around her, so she could not fully enjoy it. Joy and blessing from heaven. She loves to preach the gospel of salvation, but is that all there is to Christianity?

During the changes in the past few years, evangelical churches have faced great challenges, and people have raised questions about what is the core of their faith. We need to return to the Lord, face it honestly, and seek humbly.

The 2023 KRC Spring Retreat will be held at the Pennsylvania Messenger Association from April 13-16. Pastor Wen Yongxu led everyone to discuss the "future of evangelicalism" and made suggestions based on the characteristics of the evangelical movement: biblicism, crucicentrism, reformism, and evangelism-oriented activism. Please see the inside cover page for details.

Attached to this issue is an introduction to Project Arctos, a ministry prepared for all those who seek the Lord. Arctos is the Biblical Greek word for bear; bears isolate themselves from the outside world and enter hibernation in harsh environments.I hope that Project Arctos can revive many dormant Christians and enjoy the abundant life promised by the Lord. Please read and scan the QR Code to enjoy the introductory video, and join the email list to receive regular information.

After nearly 18 months of prayer, discussion, and seeking, in order to make the ministry more focused and more faithful to the vision and mission entrusted by God, it is believed that the corporate operation of Taiwan KRC has completed its phased tasks. I would like to express my special thanks to the directors, supervisors and secretary-general who have served faithfully for many years. In the future, KRC in Taiwan will be conducted in a more relaxed and informal manner. Online workshops will be held simultaneously with KRC in the United States, and the location is not restricted; physical camps will be held in cooperation with strategic alliances with various institutions in Taiwan.

The annual theme of KRC in 2023 is "Renew the whole person, take root in the right path, and achieve good results", summarized from three scriptures: God’s command to the remnant is to take root downward and bear fruit upward (Isaiah 37:31); what God wants to do is to uproot, tear down, destroy, overthrow, and to establish, Plant (Jeremiah 1:10); pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness (1 Timothy 6:11). I hope that we will truly experience renewal, take root in the true way, and bear good fruits in various virtues.
