Husband: John Sellers, Senior Engineer at Sargent & Lundy LLC
"Yu Qing, please come. I will introduce you to John on Xiaorong's behalf and fulfill her last wish." Xu Zhiqiang, Yu Qing's friend Huang Xiaorong's husband, insisted on inviting her.
Xiaorong lived in Kincardin, a small town in Ontario, Canada, when a tragedy happened. There was a white engineer named John with good character and willingness to help others. His Korean wife died in a car accident, and his only daughter also took out the respirator and passed away two days later.
Xiaorong wants to bring her and John together. Yu Qing wanted to visit a friend, but was not keen on meeting John. He changed the time of the visit again and again, and finally made it happen. However, Xiaorong also died in a car accident a few days ago.
▲When Yuqing and John returned home to visit their parents with their son Matthew, John had to rely entirely on his wife. This made him realize that after returning to the United States, he should help his beloved wife adapt to Western laws, customs and culture.
Although she trusts her old friend's vision, if she wants to find a husband, Yu Qing really wants to find a Chinese. She is from Guangzhou and pays attention to the art of eating. Some families with foreign marriages cook their own food, and some foreign husbands can't even smell the smell of oil smoke. Yuqing couldn't bear this kind of life.
John suddenly lost his wife and daughter and realized that he was used to having a family and could not live alone. In his grief, he begged God for mercy and revealed his future wife to him within six months.
The day when Yuqing flew to Jinkading and Zhiqiang came to pick him up was the last day John prayed to God for six months.
Yuqing's initial impression of John was that he was handsome and honest. After getting to know him better, his simple thoughts gave people a refreshing feeling. Communicating with him without having to be defensive or hesitant is easier than getting along with Chinese people.
Yuqing once cooked a table of Chinese dishes for John. Unexpectedly, he had lived in South Korea for three years and was able to use chopsticks skillfully to taste oriental delicacies one by one, including mushrooms.
"I married Yuqing not because she is Chinese, but because we share common life goals and values. She is happy to be a wife and a mother. She understands that motherhood is joyful, but it comes with a price of hard work." John answered the reporter. On the question of why she married a Chinese, she added: "Yu Qing was already a Canadian citizen before marrying me. She didn't need to get any benefits from marrying me. It was just that she was ready to start a family, and it was God's timing. I happened to be there. . I thank God for hearing my prayer and making Yuqing a mother and me a husband and father.”
Before John's first wife passed away, although she had decided to believe in the Lord, she was not baptized. It was John's regret that he was not sure whether she was in heaven. The first gift he gave to Yuqing was a Chinese Bible, which also brought his blessing and hope.
Influenced by John's beautiful testimony, Yuqing became a Christian and was filled with the fragrance of Christ. She influenced lives with her life in the cross-cultural women's fellowship of the "Palm Beach Chinese Christian Church" in Florida.
