Uncle Sun, goodbye Tianjia!

On May 1, 2018, when I learned that Uncle Sun Yue had returned home, I felt reluctance, heartache and gratitude. The family members of the "Artist's Home" church that I am a member of all understand that Uncle Sun's determination to serve the Lord is just like Dr. Mackie's, who "would rather burn out than perish." Therefore, together with the other five Christian organizations, we specially Choose May 31st as "World No Tobacco Day" to hold the "Forever Old Friend Uncle Sun Appreciation Party". My husband and I are honored to be part of the staff.

During a break from poetry practice, I walked out of the backstage, quietly opened the curtain, and saw that the 2,000 seats were almost full. I was so moved that my whole body trembled, my eyes turned red, and I silently thanked the Lord for Uncle Sun!

This thanksgiving party was like a farewell party. Everyone on the stage spoke of gratitude and nostalgia, which made us standing in the background laugh sometimes and wipe away tears. When it was time to take the stage, everyone sang Uncle Sun's favorite song - "Refining Me to Become Better":

If you do not crush the olives into pomace, they cannot become oil; if you do not put the grapes into a press, they cannot become wine; if you do not refine the olives into ointment, they will not be fragrant; Lord, am I the same? To be hurt by Your permission? ...(Chorus) Every blow is a real benefit. If you take away something, you replace it with yourself.

When I sang the chorus, tears welled up in my eyes, and the scene from twenty years ago came to my mind.

At that time, I was still working at Lite-On Group. In order to bring my non-believer colleagues and classmates to a fellowship gathering, I went to a gathering at the Artist’s Home Church on Yanji Street, where I got to know Uncle Sun. Uncle Sun has no celebrity airs at all and treats all church members very kindly. During this period, I often visited National Taiwan University Hospital with Uncle Sun and the church brothers and sisters, or performed at the Cuibai Nursing Home.

I remember that when my father was hospitalized with terminal cancer, Uncle Sun came to care and pray. My father was very excited and said, "Who am I? I can let Uncle Sun come to the hospital to see me!" Uncle Sun was also one of the key people who finally made my father willing to be baptized. Thank the Lord, my father returned to heaven peacefully one day after his baptism.

While preparing for the memorial service, I did not expect that my second brother-in-law passed away due to a construction accident. I was extremely sad to lose two family members within a week, and I could only face it by relying on the Lord. At that time, in addition to praying for us, Uncle Sun also took concrete actions to help us arrange all the memorial services.

A year later, Uncle Sun learned that I had obtained a master's degree from the UK. He was very happy. In addition to encouraging me to do more work for the Lord, he also prayed for me to find a good man to marry, so that we can serve the Lord together! Thank the Lord, I got married in 2011. Uncle Sun was one of the very important family members at the wedding and wedding banquet because we all wanted to spread the gospel through the wedding.

Uncle Sun is such a lovely and respectable elder. No matter what the occasion, as long as he is free, he will give his best to the Lord.

On Mother's Day 2017, Uncle Sun learned that my husband and I were volunteers at KRC. He was curious about what kind of organization KRC is? When he learned that it was the "Kingdom Resources for Christ Association", he said, "Wow! It's great to work in the Kingdom of God!" He knew that the two best-selling books "The Purpose-Driven Life" and "The Wind and Fire" were translated by the founder of KRC, Mr. Gao Lili. , I also hope to have the opportunity to meet Teacher Gao in the future, and read the "Kingdom of God" magazine, and happily said to us: "Good magazines should be shared with good friends more often!" He is like this, he often reminds us younger generations that we can serve more Serving God is a great thing!

Goodbye, heaven

Unfortunately, life is too short, just like the life video of Uncle Sun playing on the screen. It is witty, humorous, serious and rich in content, but there is a moment to say goodbye after all!

This important figure who influenced the history of Taiwan's entertainment industry and charity chose to leave the entertainment industry when he was sixty years old, the most glorious year in his life. He even said that to the entertainment industry, he was like a deserter; it was not that the entertainment industry was not good, but that he had found a value that made him more committed. "Because he wants the truth rather than doctrine, he should no longer 'know everything but can't do it.'" Pastor Kou Shaoen said this to the 2,000 close relatives and friends at the Thanksgiving Meeting who missed Uncle Sun. Uncle Sun must long for everyone he loves to take the same path back to heaven and meet again in the future. "If we take the right car and go in the same direction, we will definitely meet again."

Uncle Sun has fought the good fight; he has finished the race that he has to run; he has kept the faith that he has to keep. The Lord has prepared a crown of glory for Uncle Sun.

Uncle Sun, we will meet again in heaven!
