greatest invention

One night while having dinner with the family, my daughter suddenly asked a very interesting question: "What do you think is the greatest invention of mankind?"

The three great inventions of ancient China immediately came to mind: the compass, papermaking and gunpowder. Think also of the steam engine that sparked the Industrial Revolution, the vaccine that prevented polio, and the light bulb, photocopiers, telephones, televisions, and computers. Yes, they are all great inventions, but which one is the "greatest" invention? I was stumped.

After my daughter asked me to think deeply for a while, I continued: "This is a question that students are often asked to answer in university admission applications. Someone has compiled the answers of some applicants into a book for reference by high school graduates. I saw one of the answers, It's very special, probably the greatest invention ever."

My curiosity aroused and I was ready to listen.

"The greatest invention of mankind is the eraser!"

I was surprised by this answer, but at the same time I thought it made sense. Every educated person in the civilized world has used rubber blocks, and those great inventors such as Watt and Edison should be no exception. The rubber block helps everyone who uses it learn from failure, forget what is behind, work hard in front of it, and finally find the way to success. It has made a great contribution to the progress of human civilization.

"Then what do you think is God's greatest invention?" I asked my daughter.

"Morning sun, sunset, rainbow, bright moon, red flowers, green grass, flying birds..."

"Yes, these are all God's great inventions, but which one is the greatest invention?" This time I stumped my daughter, and she had to admit defeat!

"God's greatest invention is the cross! God is just and cannot let sinners go unpunished. But He is also loving and does not want sinners to be punished. As a result, He invented the cross as a salvation, allowing Him His only begotten Son, Jesus, died on the cross to take the punishment of sin on behalf of the world, so that all those who accept Jesus will not only have their sins forgiven, but also receive eternal life.”

The daughter came to the conclusion: "From this point of view, the cross is a rubber block invented by God for people to use to wipe away sins!" In the end, she won.
