 As for me and my family

[2014 Taiwan KRC Cultural Practice Camp] New Class Close-up of Family Storytelling Workshop to Inherit the Wisdom of Life

If I were a rocket flying through the sky, you would be the fuel that propels it forward;
If I were a colorful kite, you would be the wind that makes it soar into the sky.

This section of Pastor Su Wen'an's true confession to Mrs. Lishan was published in the 4th issue of this magazine in May 2006, providing a touching text demonstration for the students of the Family Story Workshop.

Course design, carefully crafted

In 2014, the 6th Taiwan Kingdom of God Resource Cultural Practice Camp, "Family Story Workshop - About Me and My Family," was taught by Pastor Su Wen-an, who has been involved in literature ministry and family ministry for nearly 30 years.

Teacher Su teaches students how to observe, record, respond, interview, and share family stories they have experienced or heard between themselves and their family members in the process of shaping and growing their outlook on life, values, and worldview.

The course is divided into five major themes: "Parent-child interaction", "Spousal conflict", "Care for the elders", "Marriage changes and single parenthood", and "Family cohesion and faith inheritance". Mr. Su has carefully selected teachings and stories related to these five aspects from the 80 issues of "True Love Family" magazine that he has edited for more than ten years and carefully compiled them into more than 200 pages of handouts, becoming an extremely valuable resource for every student. .

Student exchanges were brilliant

This year’s literary camp gathered 29 literary enthusiasts, about 80% of whom were freshmen, and some of whom were returning students. During the three days and two nights of the camp, they communicated with each other in an honest and sincere way. Come to resonate and be shocked. Because of Teacher Su’s advance reminder, a total of nine students prepared speech notes in advance and shared their unique life journeys on five themes.

From these family stories, we see a wonderful turning point in life, as well as regrets and collapse. The relationship between family members can not only bring nourishment to life, but also shape unexploded bombs in life; the temperature at home changes Just like when people drink water and know whether they are hot or cold, some people's families of origin are warm and the sun shines day by day, illuminating the future; there are also classmates whose families are full of coldness, which greatly reduces their willingness to get married in the future; or perhaps these two climates alternate with each other. , hot and cold, making the personality easy-going.

These sharings are so valuable and bring profound reminders and reflections. As the students on the stage narrated the story, the students in the audience felt ups and downs, happy and sad, as the story unfolded. In addition to being moved and distressed, they also felt The direct contact of life and the essence extracted from each other's experiences bring inspiration and help. In the public response and comments of the whole class, teachers and students learn the practical skills of writing family stories.

Words serve, the essence emerges

"Today's things are tomorrow's memories." As the handout emphasizes, because everyone has a unique life, it is not just about telling stories from a historical perspective, but "telling your story in your own words." A lifetime of beliefs, values, life lessons, dreams, hopes, and blessings received are recorded in writing or spoken orally, and organized into memories and intangible assets that can be passed on to future generations.

At the end of the training, a student shared: "I have not received any writing training myself. The teacher gave a lot of teachings and reminders, and provided various nutrients. Sometimes I even felt that I was drowning because of too many nutrients! But The important thing is to actually write and practice seriously. If you don't apply it in your life, the effect will be very limited. But as long as you are willing to do it, you can expand the realm of life. "

This literary camp came to a beautiful end with mutual respect and reverberation, and we look forward to seeing you again next year!
