Pre-meeting preparations where everything works together

Every summer vacation, many parents will carefully arrange various courses and summer camps for their babies. In 2019, Taiwan KRC was moved to organize the "Dream Takeoff Summer Camp" for children and children with disabilities in their families, and included it in the 2020 annual plan.

Although at the beginning of the year due to factors such as the epidemic and the typhoon in August, we considered postponing or suspending the event, with the faith declaration of teachers and co-workers, God opened roads for us in the wilderness and rivers in the desert, overcoming all difficulties, and finally on August 6 This camp was co-organized with the Miracle Association on Thursday (Thursday) and Monday, the 10th (Monday), hoping to provide children with diversified learning on "character, financial management, health, emotions, gender, and talents", and through the group Kanglai strengthens team spirit.

Students from the "Da'an Care Center for Disadvantaged Families" located in Shulin and Huilong areas of New Taipei City are a group that Miracle Association has cared about for many years. For more than ten years, they have organized ten-day outdoor tours at the Quaker Guoguang Church's Gongliao Camp. and Scouting courses. This year, KRC hosted the event for two days. Our co-workers went to Gongliao and Shuangxi Mountains many times to survey the site, discuss course content, communicate with teachers about class matters, etc., and took every aspect seriously.

The age range of students this time is very wide, ranging from the first grade of elementary school to high school. For the sake of class quality and learning effect, we teach in three classes according to age groups, and the lesson plans and videos of each course are also designed into three versions according to the class. In order to allow more than 80 teachers and students to have class and preparation space in air-conditioned classrooms with computer projection equipment in the scorching heat, we moved the camp to Shuangxi Middle School.

Thanks to Principal Peng Shengzuo and school teachers of Shuangxi Middle School for assisting with the hardware equipment, Secretary-General Hong Miaozhen of Miracle Association, and Pastor Zhuang and Pastor Cai of Shulin and Huilong Church for spending time to shuttle students to and from the mountain camp during those two days. Although there are more preliminary assignments than usual, I am moved by what the Bible says in Romans 8:28, “All things work together for good to those who love God.”

The emotion in the twinkling eyes

In this camp, I saw the students with a strange and curious attitude, large and small figures shuttled through the classrooms, corridors, and campus. With their excited faces, they all opened their eyes during class, staring at the teachers who taught and demonstrated attentively. The children took notes attentively and completed each work carefully: bamboo animal crafts, Father's Day animated cards, and dream paintings. , various doll balloons, Butterfly Valley Bart handbags, etc. Judging from the children's reactions and enthusiastic participation, I believe they felt the love of the organizers.

Children understand the Bible and the principles of receiving blessings from the "Character" course. In the financial management course, write down a shopping list through "wants" and "needs" to understand the importance of financial management. I learned in the "Health Education" course that understanding the meridians and acupuncture points of the body can make the body healthier.

They also understood the "critical six seconds of emotion" in class. As long as they are properly controlled, conflicts can be avoided and good interpersonal relationships can be enhanced. In the "Gender" course for boys and girls, they realize the great differences between men and women, understand God's good intentions in creating both genders, and only by absolutely abiding by biblical norms and maintaining boundaries can they enjoy a better life in the future.

Seeing students happily learning talents and developing artistic skills makes the tutors feel comforted and happy. In knowledge-based and interesting level-breaking games, students of different ages participate in team activities, taking the opportunity to cultivate team spirit and broaden their knowledge. During the two-day camp, under the careful planning and enthusiastic leadership of each teacher, the children gained a lot and their joyful smiles became even brighter in the sunshine!

Heart-to-heart expectations and gratitude

Having been involved in this work for many years, Miracle Association Secretary-General Hong Miaozhen said that she was the warmest great-aunt to the children in the camp. Since I personally experienced fleeing from a young age, my father was framed and imprisoned, which put the family in a financial dilemma with no food to eat, so I am particularly concerned about single parents and children raised in separate generations. I hope that these key children, although they grew up in a poor environment, can grow spiritually and physically through summer camp every year. This time she was very pleased to see that the students were more mature, sensible and grateful. I hope that the students will not only thank their teachers for their love, but also promise to give back to the community in the future.

Poverty or family disability not only refers to financial shortages, but also reflects the lack of learning resources for children; the gap caused by the rich and the poor may also gradually widen as time goes by. The summer camp held this time not only provides students with a legitimate leisure activity, but also allows them to broaden their horizons, build the kingdom of God and humanistic qualities through participation in the camp, improve their self-confidence from an early age, and hope to reduce the learning gap caused by economically disadvantaged environments. .

I would like to express my gratitude to every intercessor and donor. It is because of your love that this summer camp can be carried out smoothly. I am also grateful to all the teachers who took leave to participate in the camp: Nissi, Regent, Angel, Oliver, Paul, Jason, Amy, Maple, Kelly, Candy, William, Hainan, Julie. Thank you for going to Shuangxi Middle School and doing your best. Provide professional talents and rich teaching experience to enable this group of students to have an unforgettable and happy learning experience!

God will bless everyone's selfless devotion. We look forward to more readers and friends joining the "Dream Takeoff Summer Camp" in the future, so that this meaningful event can continue.

Comments from classmates

Participating in this camp was very different. It inspired us to dream for the future. Through the guidance of teachers, we no longer looked down upon ourselves and became confident. In addition to getting along with a few friends, I didn't expect that in this camp, I could get to know every student in the class through "dreams", get closer to each other, and learn from each other. This time, in addition to attending lectures, we also had hands-on skills and painting, and played earth games, which made us feel very friendly and belonging, and we gained warmth and a sense of accomplishment.

It turns out that by doing a few basic actions of "going to bed and getting up", you can avoid nose allergies and colds; do some soft exercises before exercise to avoid sports injuries; press a few acupuncture points to relieve body pain and improve immunity.

Wow! The organizer is very generous and allows everyone to have their own talent tools and stationery, so that we can continue to learn after the meeting. Butterfly Valley Butter Handbags, due to lack of funds, could only make small ones. I didn’t expect that we could have such a big handbag this time, and it could also be made double-sided. The imported paper allowed us to choose any pattern, which was really touching.

The Tuankang game is very unforgettable. It turns out that different ages can get along peacefully, and then strive for the highest honor for the group. Not only does it break down the barriers between each other, but the team can also learn from each other and achieve great results together.
